Rules and regulations: we need you to read these so that we can produce a high quality DVD to distribute throughout the UK!

Filming

You can film on any reasonable format as long as the finished piece is delivered correctly (see technical spec). All films must be your own work shot 07/08 season.

Branding

The final DVD will be supported by certain brands that enable the project to take place. Therefore, whilst clothing, board graphics, stickers are acceptable promotion of brands in entries, films that contain added logos or type (bought to you by xxxx etc.) will not be eligible for submission.
It is acceptable however for a ‘Brand team’ to enter – but the above rule must be considered during editing.

Brand names can be included within any credits but must be in written form. (see end credits).

Numbers in team

It’s up to you, make this a solo project or a group/crew effort we only ask that there is one submission per team. We will need a team name and a lead contact for each entry.

Title sequence

Keep it short and sweet, quick graphic, text or intro. This should be no longer than 15 seconds.

End credits

Please submit all your credits as a separate movie. These will be added by the organisers in their entirety at the end of the DVD.

Technical Specification

You will need to deliver your finished film in one of the following formats, we will not except anything else.

Quicktime file – deliver on data DVD or storage device
Mini DV
Beta cam
Beta

Soundtrack

You will be responsible for all the music on the film. No submission will be accepted with out a completed form stating that you have permission to use the music, no exceptions.

This film will be available to minors, please do not include unnecessary swearing or content of an adult nature.

Licensing

By submitting your film to the Mountain Stories competition you give the producers the right to use and distribute your footage in the context of the competition via magazine, shop, T.V, DVD and web for

Judging

The shortlist will be compiled by the organisers, 2 chosen pro riders and 2 independent members of the film industry.

All the shortlisted films will appear on the DVD and will be in the running for the top prizes.

Judging criteria will be based on originality, cinematography, the portrayal of snowboarding and overall impression.

Films not making it to the short list will appear on a dedicated website that will showcase all of the entries.

The judge’s decision will be final.

Dates

You are free to start filming from now up until the end of the season. We will then give you up until the end of June to edit your piece down to its final cut. Any films received after 30th June will not be considered for entry.

The shortlist will be announced in September/October 08

Webfilms – all films that do not make it onto the shortlist will be available to view on-line by October.

The premier and awards will take place in November 08

Final DVD will be available from branches of TSA by November 08.
